Your Opinion: City putting cart before the horse

Dear Editor:

What has been known as putting the cart before the horse could quite adequately describe the situation developing before us, that of the two (not one anymore) attorneys on the City Council trying to force the citizens to accept the creation of an assistant city administrator.

It is known that the more people or departments under a top-dog's jurisdiction, the more important and self-serving he becomes. This has been seen more and more in government bodies. We are getting too many chiefs and not enough qualified workers.

It is still being questioned among some of the citizens here why it was necessary to go out of town and get two so-called attorneys from elsewhere and Columbia of all places.

Government can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. Citizens should take a stand on all of the foolishness going on in this community. But as is known we have a City Council that doesn't know how to say no and stand up for its citizens. It is yes, yes, yes to everything that is brought up before them.
