JC woman hit by vehicle while crossing street

A Jefferson City woman is listed in critical condition at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia after being hit by a vehicle while walking across a street, Wednesday morning.

According to police reports, the accident occurred at 7:55 a.m. at East Dunklin Street and Jackson Street.

Alice Andrews, 29, Jefferson City, was making a left turn from Dunklin onto Jackson.

Carol Ortbals, 56, was walking west, crossing Jackson, and was struck by Andrews' vehicle.

Ortbals was flown by helicopter to MU for treatment.

The investigation is continuing by the police department's traffic unit.
