In addition to helping add a second story to an elementary school in Constanza, Dominican Republic, David Bartz was among several photographers on the recent Lifetouch Mission to take first-time portraits of the school children.

Swarmed by excited, happy children on a December day in Constanza, Dominican Republic, David Bartz looked down to see a smiling, round-faced little girl clutching his hand.

He was at the school to take the students' first portraits ever as part of the Lifetouch Memory Mission.

Deimy, 6, would not let go of his hand as he and the other 40 members of the team spent time with the children and teachers at the first of only two elementary schools in the farming community of 90,000.

Eventually, Deimy had climbed on to his back and called for a "horsey ride" in her native Spanish. When the other children wanted a turn, Deimy said "no." She had adopted Bartz.
