A Mid-Missouri man was being held Friday in the Cole County Jail on $75,000 bond, following his arrest by Fulton police on Thursday.
Jefferson City police said Ronald Allen Jr., 38, was suspected of a November burglary at a home on Donald Drive where residents were sleeping, and of fleeing from police after they tried to stop his car on West Main Street because his tail lights were out.
A Jefferson City police news release issued Friday evening said Allen lives in the Capital City.
But a report of the case on Case.net, the Missouri court system's online reporting system, shows Allen having a Fulton address.
Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson on Thursday filed four charges against Allen: first-degree burglary, first-degree property damage, resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, and stealing an item worth less than $500.
The Jefferson City police news release said when an officer tried to stop a vehicle for the tail lights violation, the driver headed north on Boonville Road, "then travelled off the roadway and struck a home in the 900 block of Boonville Road. The driver fled the area on foot, and was not located." The house sustained approximately $77,000 in damage, and authorities hadn't been able to locate Allen until this week.
But officers then discovered items in the car "belonging to a residence in the 100 block of Douglas Drive, where a burglary had taken place," the police release reported.
After his arrest in Fulton on Thursday, the Jefferson City release said, Allen was interviewed by Jefferson City police and "admitted to driving the vehicle in the pursuit."
The Jefferson City news release also said "other area burglaries may be solved as a result of this arrest."
They said no other information would be released until Monday.
