Missouri volleyball team bows out with loss

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Just like that, the tournament run is over for the conference champions who had a perfect regular season.

The No. 4-seeded and undefeated Missouri women's volleyball team bowed out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 18-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-27 loss to Purdue on Saturday night at the Hearnes Center.

Missouri was coming off a 34-0 regular season that included the school's first Southeastern Conference championship. The Tigers had ascended to No. 4 in the national poll, and earned the fourth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Missouri beat IUPUI 3-0 in the first round Friday.

Purdue (22-11) now advances to the Champaign (Ill.) Regional, which will be held Friday and Saturday.

Carly Kan paced the Tigers with 18 kills, while Lisa Henning (12) and Emily Wilson (11) joined her in double digits. Missouri recorded just a .237 hitting percentage, while Purdue's jumepd to .352. Molly Kreklow recorded 47 assists for Missouri.

Missouri ends its season at 35-1.
