Lincoln men, women drop games to Central Oklahoma

Mike Smith did all he could. It wasn't enough.

Smith scored 33 points on 14-of-20 shooting , seven rebounds and four assists, but Lincoln dropped a 90-71 decision to Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon at Jason Gym.

Clay Crouch added 15 points for the Blue Tigers.

Josh Gibbs paced Central Oklahoma with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Phillip Brown added 18 and Aaron Anderson had 10.

Lincoln took an early 8-5 on a layup from Smith. It was all Central Oklahoma after that.

Ahead 31-23, the Bronchos went on a 15-2 run to blow the game open. Central Oklahoma led 48-29 at halftime.

Lincoln was never able to get closer than 11 points in the second half, and Central Oklahoma led by as many as 22.

Central Oklahoma improves to 7-2 and 1-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Assocation play.

Lincoln (2-8, 0-2 MIAA) travels next Saturday to Nebraska-Kearney.

The Lincoln women's basketball team started slow and could never quite catch up.

Central Oklahoma jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 72-55 victory Saturday afternoon at Jason Gym.

That fast start for the Bronchos extended to 16-4 before Lincoln eventually cut the deficit to 26-22 on a 3-pointer from Jennifer Rosado late in the opening period.

Central Oklahoma took a 31-23 lead into the intermission. Lincoln wasn't able to get any closer in the second half, as the Bronchos led by as many as 19 points two separate times.

Angela Randall was the lone Blue Tiger in double figures with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Lincoln shot just 30.4 percent for the game.

Britney Morgan and Jill Bryan both scored 14 points to lead the Bronchos. Olivia Mason added 10 points. Central Oklahoma shot 45.6 percent as a team.

Central Oklahoma improves to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA.

Lincoln (3-6, 0-2 MIAA) travels next Saturday to Nebraska-Kearney
