Wreck disrupts 179 traffic

Crane stuck in ditch south of Route T

MoDOT crews cleaned up a non-injury accident from around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday involving a tractor-trailer that was hauling a crane on Missouri 179, south of Route T in Cole County.

The accident forced the closure of the southbound lane of Missouri 179. Southbound traffic was being detoured.

The wreck occurred when Kansas-based Allied Crane was hauling one of its own cranes. The accident left the trailer and crane in a deep ditch, extending into the driving lane.

The crane had not been extricated by early Wednesday night.

MoDOT will post any full closure advisories through its Traveler information Map (traveler.modot.org/map/), or on Twitter (@MoDOT_Central).

Until the road is reopened, commuters are encouraged to seek an alternate route, as significant delays are possible.
