Blair Oaks, Versailles win in Eugene Invitational

EUGENE - It was an auspicious start for the Blair Oaks Falcons.

Second-seeded Blair Oaks opened their season with a 66-30 victory against seventh-seeded Russellville in the opening round of the Eugene Invitational on Tuesday.

The Falcons led 15-10 after one quarter and 32-21 at halftime before using a big third quarter to take a 60-26 advantage into the final period.

Kory Franks paced the winners with 13 points, while Logan Bax added 11.

Russellville was led by Levi Anderson with nine points and eight rebounds.

Blair Oaks (1-0) takes on third-seeded California at 9 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals. Russellville (0-1) takes on St. Elizabeth at 8 p.m. today in the loser's bracket semifinals.

Also Tuesday in the event, fourth-seeded Versailles defeated fifth-seeded School of the Osage 67-58.

Osage led 19-12 after one period before Versailles responded for a 36-30 lead at halftime. The Tigers took a 56-41 lead after three quarters.

Ryan Surface paced Versailles with 19 points, Trey Woods added 14 and Michael Allen had 10.

Tristan Hensley led Osage with 21 points.

Versailles takes on Eugene in a Thursday semifinal, while Osage slides all the way to the fifth-place game Thursday against the winner of tonight's St. Elizabeth-Russellville game.
