Why can't the state of Missouri devise a health care program for its residents. Talk to our insurance people (all who do business within the state of Missouri) sit down and work our a proposal. Use whatever funding we have in state to help fund this program. Charge very low affordable payments to persons who can prove income or lack thereof and income would also have to take in the considerable assets some persons have that don't show up as income. Just because a person may draw only a small income, Social Security, etc., doesn't mean they don't have other funds available. Persons who have insurance, private or through a Missouri business, would keep their insurance.
Why are the states being forced to follow a health care law which was written by two separate divisions of the federal government, having nothing to do with insurance, health care or care of fellow human beings. This law was pushed through with the famous words of let's pass the bill so we can find out what is in it.
I did read several hundreds pages of this monster bill and was so distressed by some of the information I called and left Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer a message to consider certain pages, paragraphs, etc. One of these items was that we have given the United States government permission to take funds from our personal accounts in the event there is not enough money to cover the cost of the program.
We have smart people in the state of Missouri and many of them not affiliated with state government, maybe we need to look a little further into this entire fiasco.
