Lady Jays get first victory of season in OT

ST. JAMES, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays evened their basketball record at 1-1 with a 51-46 victory Saturday afternoon against the North County Lady Raiders in the St. James Shootout.

"We hit a couple of shots early in the overtime and got a couple of stops," Jefferson City coach Shane Meyer said.

The Lady Jays trailed 11-8 after one quarter and it was 23-13 in favor of the Lady Raiders late in the second quarter. But Jefferson City closed the half with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit in half heading into the third quarter.

Megan Foster of Jefferson City got hot in the third quarter, hitting three 3-pointers as the Lady Jays took a 32-30 advantage into the final period. The game was tied at 39 at the end of regulation.

Foster finished with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Lady Jays, while Kezia Martin added 10.

Jefferson City will play Monday at Rolla.
