Eye's game-high 27 not enough as Tigers fall to Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, FLA. - Missouri junior Morgan Eye scored a game-high 27 points, but it wasn't enough as Miami claimed a 74-68 basketball victory over the Tigers in the final round of the University of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Eye and Bri Kulas both earned All-Tournament honors for MU, which finished second after rolling to a 68-45 win over Hartford in the opening round Friday.

Eye hit nine 3-pointers and was 9-of-14 from the field, while Kilas added 13 points and 14 boards to pace the Tigers.

MU led by as many as 11 in the first half, but the Hurricanes(5-2) pulled within three at halftime and went on a 14-5 run to take a 69-61 lead with 1:26 left in the game.

Bree Fowler hit a 3-pointer with 34 seconds on the clock to bring MU within three, but Miami was able to hold off the Tigers down the stretch.

Fowler scored a career-high 10 points - all in the second half - to help lead MU, which was 22-of-61 (31 percent) from the field and 13-of-31 (41 percent) from the 3-point line.

Miami was 23-of-63 (36 percent) from the field and 6-of-18 (33 percent) from behind the arc, but the Hurricanes scored 17 points off 19 MU turnovers.

The Tigers return to action when they host Oral Roberts Thursday at 7 p.m.
