Fans invited to attend MU's first five volleyball contests free of charge

The University of Missouri volleyball team is going to give fans something for nothing.

Fans of the Tigers will get a chance to see the first five scheduled Missouri contests this season free of charge.

It begins Thursday with the Tigers' season-opening Black and Gold scrimmage, which is set to start at 6:30 p.m.

Then it continues Aug. 30-31 when the entire Tiger Invitational, which features four matches involving Missouri, will have free admission.

During the Tiger Invitational, Missouri will play two matches Aug. 30, facing South Dakota at 2 p.m. and Pittsburgh at 6:30 p.m. Then on Aug. 31, Missouri will take on Idaho State at 12:30 p.m. and Arkansas State at 4 p.m.

Those matches will be important for fans, as soon after they will embark on a seven-match road trip spanning much of September before returning home for the Mizzou Classic on Sept. 20.

The Tigers return all six starters and their libero from last year and brought in the No. 18 recruiting class nationally. Three of the returning starters - Molly Kreklow, Lisa Henning and Whitney Little - were all-Southeastern Conference picks last season, as Henning also earned her second AVCA All-America Third Team honor last year.

Krelow and Henning are All-SEC preseason picks for the Tigers, who are picked to finish third in the SEC East.
