JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Officials said Wednesday that two companies plan to open a new facility in northern Missouri to build and refurbish intermediate bulk containers.
The project in Chillicothe calls for a more than $5.1 million investment and is expected to create 87 jobs. The 50,000 square-foot facility is to be co-opened by IBC North America and Clean Tide Container. It is needed because of increased demand, particularly in the agricultural sector.
Gov. Jay Nixon said praised the proposal and said it would create jobs in Missouri. He said it "is great news for this region and another example of the continued economic growth we're seeing in every corner of our state."
Nixon's administration said the companies could be eligible for state incentives. The Missouri Department of Economic Development cited state law and said it could not disclose details about the incentives package. The agency says the companies have accepted Missouri's proposal but not yet filed an application for the tax incentive program.
IBC North America is based in Clarkston, Mich., and was founded in 1997. It also has a facility to be opened in Georgia. Clean Tide Container was founded in 2004 as a reconditioning operation headquartered in Robertsdale, Ala. It also has facilities California, Kentucky and Michigan.
