The Lincoln University softball team dropped four games over the weekend, losing both halves of doubleheaders with Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney
On Friday in Hays, Kan., the Blue Tigers dropped 8-1 and 9-0 decision to the host Tigers.
In the opener, Lincoln managed just three hits and got its lone run when Erin Sommerer drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning.
Joey Bunch had two of the Blue Tigers' three hits, while Sommerer had the other.
Clair Lorenz took the loss, giving up just two earned runs while throwing a complete-game 11-hitter. She struck out seven and walked one.
The Blue Tigers then had just two hits - singles by Sam Kircher and Brianna Akers - while losing the second game.
Starr McLeod started and took the loss, giving up six earned runs on four hits in 31â„3 innings. He walked one and struck out one.
Kristina Hein finished up, allowing three earned runs on one hit and two walks in 11â„3 innings.
Fort Hays State improved to 41-9 overall and 21-5 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association with the sweep.
On Saturday in Kearney, Neb., Lincoln lost by scores of 5-2 and 3-2.
In the opener, an RBI single by Haley Bartow in the second inning and a solo home run by Kircher in the fifth accounted for all of Lincoln's scoring.
The Blue Tigers were outhit 6-5, with Bartow pacing the offense with a pair of singles. Sommerer and Akers had one double each.
Lorenz (9-10) was the losing pitcher, throwing a complete game. Only one of the runs was earned and she struck out 12 Lopers while walking just one.
In the nightcap, Nebraska Kearney scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
McLeod's solo homer in the fourth and Akers' RBI double in the fifth amounted to all of the offensive production for Lincoln.
The Blue Tigers actually outhit the Lopers 6-4, as Akers and McLeod had two hits and one RBI apiece.
McLeod (4-9) was the tough-luck loser, as only one run was earned. She walked five and struck out three.
With the wins, the Lopers moved to 13-29 overall and 8-18 in the MIAA.
The Blue Tigers (14-25-1, 6-20) will close out their season with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Northwest Missouri State.
