Lady Jays blank Smith-Cotton

SEDALIA - The Jefferson City Lady Jays scored three times in a five-minute span Wednesday night in a 3-0 victory against the Sedalia Smth-Cotton Lady Tigers.

Grace Haarman scored the first goal for the Lady Jays with about 15 minutes remaining in the contest. Megan Martens tallied the last two. Sarah Luebbert finished with two assists, while Courtney Kolb had one.

Becca Sturgess had the shutout as the Lady Jays did not allow a shot on goal.

Jefferson City (8-2-1) is back in action Friday and Saturday at the Tournament of Champions in Burlington, Iowa. Jefferson City opens against Lockport, Ill., at 1 p.m. Friday.

In the JV game, Jefferson City posted a 3-2 victory against Smith-Cotton. Jasmine Fox had two goals for the Lady Jays, while April Krumm had the other.
