Father, son rescued from Mississippi River

CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (AP) - A father and son are OK after being rescued from the flooding Mississippi River south of St. Louis.

The rescue happened Tuesday evening near Crystal City in Jefferson County. Authorities say a man and his 15-year-old son were fishing from a small boat. The fast-moving current pushed the boat to the Ameren Rush Island Plant, and they became stuck by debris.

Firefighters were able to rescue the father and son. Both were cold but uninjured.

Experts advise against swimming or boating in the river at times of flooding.
