SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Rookie forward Adam Jahn scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time to pull the San Jose Earthquakes into 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers on Sunday night.
Jahn beat Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts cleanly from 13 yards. The play came off a short centering pass from Nana Attakora and a subtle touch by Chris Wondolowski, who teed up Jahn.
The goal ended Ricketts' shutout streak at 314 minutes and it neutralized a 58th-minute score by Portland midfielder Diego Valeri, who returned from a one-game absence due to injury.
Portland (2-1-4) extended its unbeaten streak to five matches.
San Jose (2-3-3) is winless in its last four.
UNION 3, DC UNITED 2
WASHINGTON (AP) - Jack McInerney scored two goals before halftime to lead Philadelphia to its first victory in four matches.
Conor Casey also scored early for the Union (3-2-2), who led 3-1 at halftime. Lionard Pajoy scored early in the second half to keep United (1-5-1) in the game.
Perry Kitchen scored the other goal for United, which lost its fourth straight.
United has lost three straight at RFK after having a 17-match home unbeaten run snapped in a 2-1 defeat against Columbus on March 23.
