Your Opinion: High gas prices here may explain shortfall

Dear Editor:

Your headline on the front page of the April 14 newspaper said "Sales tax revenue falls below lowered projections."

Maybe that has something to do with the price of gas in Jefferson City which is usually 20 cents or more a gallon higher than anywhere else in Central Missouri.

People may have quit doing business and shopping in Jefferson City and going to other places where gas is cheaper to do their shopping.
