Art tour will raise funds for Capital Arts

Capital Arts is hosting an art tour and fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. April 20 in Jefferson City at Central Bank Financial Center, 111 East Miller St.

The event, celebrating former Capital Arts Board President Ann Littlefield, includes a presentation of modern, abstract paintings from Central Bank's private art collection, which includes artists such as Warhol, Matisse and Miro. The event also includes a gentle roasting of Littlefield and a live and silent auction. Wine and heavy hors d'oeurvres will be served.

The fundraiser is $50 to attend and is open to the public. Proceeds from admittance and from the live and silent auction benefit Capital Arts and its operations and programs.

Vicki Myers, Capital Arts board treasurer, said the goal of the fundraiser is to raise $10,000.

"It really helps support the work of the gallery," Myers said. "We have classes, the Imagination Station, Art in a Suitcase and many other programs."

She said Capital Arts is funded by the Missouri Arts Council but the organization's grant was cut from the state budget.

"We want this to be an annual fundraiser to make up the difference," Myers said.

Reservations for the fundraiser are due by April 15 by calling (573) 635-8355 or e-mailing [email protected].
