Prep Baseball: Calvary goes 1-2

JACKSON, Mo. - Calvary Lutheran went 1-2 in the Saxony Lutheran Tournament this weekend.

The Lions opened Friday night with a 12-2 victory over Egyptian (Ill.) in five innings.

Wyatt Archer was the winning pitcher, tossing five innings. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two doubles and five RBI. Gavin Nutt went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Calvary continued play Saturday with a 20-1 loss to Saxony Lutheran.

Caleb Propst took the loss, tossing 1 2/3 innings and allowing seven earned runs on four hits. Lions' pitchers walked 17 batters and hit two more. The Lions managed just four hits.

Calvary closed tournament play with a 17-13 loss to Merdian (Ill.) later Saturday afternoon.

Gavin Nutt took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in two innings of work.

Beau Monson went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Archer went 3-for-3, Bradley MacLaughlin went 2-for-4 with four RBI and Caleb Propst went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Calvary (1-4) hosts Prairie Home on Monday.
