Mudd advances at national tournament

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - So far, so good for Logan Mudd.

Mudd, a junior at Blair Oaks, won his first two matches Thursday in the National High School Coaches Association's National High School Wrestling Championships.

Competing in the 132-pound weight class in the division for juniors, Mudd started the day with a win by fall in 5:00 over Dave Tuduri of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky.

Mudd followed that up with a 10-2 win over Payton Shurford of West Iredell High School in Statesville, N.C.

Mudd continues in the event today in the Round of 16 against Alex Monaco of First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills, N.C.

The top-eight finishers in the 64-man bracket will earn All-America honors.
