Police search for armed robbery suspects

The Jefferson City Police Department is searching for two suspects in an early morning armed robbery in the lot of Jefferson Bank.

According to police, officers were dispatched at about 5:50 a.m. Thursday to the lot of Jefferson Bank, 1910 Southwest Blvd. Police reported two black males wearing dark clothing approached a victim as he attempted to make a night deposit at the bank.

One of the suspects showed a handgun and demanded money. Once the victim complied, the suspects fled the scene southbound toward Bubba Lane.

Along with another subject, the victim, who is a 52-year-old Jefferson City resident, chased the suspects, eventually losing them near Bubba Lane and Southridge Drive.

The victim told officers the direction the suspects fled. When officers searched the area, they located stolen bank bags and the handgun used in the robbery.

The suspects have not been located and the issue is under investigation.
