Mo. man killed in bar fight over a hat

HANNIBAL (AP) - An argument over a hat is blamed for a fight at a northeast Missouri bar that proved fatal.

James Miller, 52, New London, died Monday, a day after he was injured in an early-morning fight at Ole Milt's bar in Hannibal. An autopsy is planned.

A 30-year-old suspect was arrested. Formal charges have not been filed and the suspect's name was not released.

Hannibal police have not released additional information but relatives told the newspaper that Miller came to the aid of his son, who was being bullied by men at the bar. The relatives say Miller's son was jumped as he tried to retrieve his hat. James Miller was hurt when he tried to help.
