Westbrook Drive at U.S. 63 near the Boone/Callaway
county line will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday due to work to stabilize a rock bluff at that location.
Westbrook Drive intersects 63 at two locations.
MoDOT is closing the southern access to Westbrook
Drive.
Drivers will be able to access Westbrook Drive about two miles north of
the southern entrance. The northern entrance is located across from the
Conoco station on 63.
The southern entrance to Westbrook Drive will remain closed until May 3,
when the rock work is scheduled to be completed.
The job entails stabilizing the face of the rock bluff and cutting a series of steps into
it to prevent loose rock from falling onto the highway.
The contractor on the project, Boone Construction Company of Columbia,
will begin hauling rock from the bluff and placing it on highway
right of way just north of Westbrook Drive. The loose rock will be used
on future highway projects.
Falling rock from the bluff prompted MoDOT to close the northbound lane of 63 last Thursday.
That lane will remain closed until early next week.
U.S. 63 will then be closed periodically throughout the duration
of the project.
