Newman wins redo primary in another close Mo. House race

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) - It was close again, but it appears that Stacey Newman has won a Missouri House Democratic primary that had to be done over because of a mistake.

Unofficial results from the election on Tuesday show that Newman, of Richmond Heights in St. Louis County, defeated Susan Carlson of University City 1,861 to 1,766.

Newman and Carlson ran against each other in the Aug. 7 primary after redistricting put them both in the new 87th District. Unofficial tallies showed Newman won by a single vote.

But a judge ordered a new election after the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners determined that 102 voters at a polling place in Brentwood were given ballots for a different district.
