Helias, Webb City split wild DH

It was a wild Wednesday of softball at Duensing Field.

Helias and Webb City split a doubleheader on a day that featured four home runs, a triple play, a walk-off win, an extra-inning affair, several comebacks and 511 pitches.

Helias won the opener 6-5 in walk-off fashion before dropping the nightcap 11-6 in eight innings.

"I am (happy with the split)," Helias coach Dan Campbell said. "I was really wanting the sweep when we were up 4-0 (in the nightcap). I thought we had a real shot at it, but I knew with their hitters that it wasn't near over. They've just got such a good hitting team. I thought we were going to need some more. We'll take the split I guess."

The real fun started in the top of the seventh inning of the opener, where Helias led 5-4 before Webb City loaded the bases with nobody out.
