COLUMBIA - Missouri's starting quarterback situation for Saturday's game against South Carolina is anything but clear, depending on who you listen to.

Missouri quarterback James Franklin was confident he could play this week against South Carolina.

His coach wasn't calling it a done deal just yet.

Franklin said on a scale of 1-10, it would be a 9 he could play Saturday after missing last Saturday's 24-20 win against Arizona State with a shoulder injury.

Head coach Gary Pinkel, meanwhile, was playing it a little closer to the vest, saying it could come down to another gametime decision.

"James Franklin will play if he can play," Pinkel said. "We'll see how the week goes up until gametime and see where we're at from there."
