Parks and Rec closer to picking architect for multipurpose building

Jefferson City officials have not yet selected an architectural firm to design a new multipurpose recreational building, but a final recommendation isn't far off, Parks and Recreation Director Bill Lockwood said Tuesday.

A three-member team - comprised of Lockwood, Planning Director Janice McMillan and Public Works Director Roger Schwartz - has reviewed 13 responses and is using a scoring system to narrow the list down. So far, the group has pared the list down to four firms.

He hopes a decision might be ready by the next Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, scheduled for mid-October.
