NW Mo. man sentenced to life for killing father

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (AP) - A northwest Missouri man was sentenced to life in prison for killing his father.

Robert Hobbs was sentenced Tuesday for second-degree murder and armed-criminal action in the death of his father, 71-year-old George Hobbs.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/RIo1Un) the elder Hobbs was found shot to death in his rural Hamilton home in Caldwell County in February 2010. After family members asked officers to check on him, they found George Hobbs dead in his bed.

Robert Hobbs was arrested later that day in Oklahoma. He pleaded guilty in July to shooting his father.

The case was moved to Livingston County on a change of venue.
