JC Council finishes budget process; final plan to be approved Monday

After more than one month of discussions, the Jefferson City Council has reached a balanced budget for the next fiscal year. Final approval is expected at Monday's council meeting.

At more than $31 million, the budget saw several last minute changes Tuesday night, including additional funds for the buildings and grounds, training budgets within the Jefferson City Fire Department, and more than $200,000 being allocated for unspecified infrastructure projects to be doled out at the discretion of the Public Works Committee with council approval.

As the committee got closer to finishing budget discussions, there was more than $200,000 in surplus funds.
