Your Opinion: Acting in support of Obama

Your Opinion: Acting in support of Obama

September 5th, 2012 by Steve Sampson, Jefferson City in News

Dear Editor:

There is a frequent letter writer who in most of her letters asks that those that write letters be more civil in their discussions about the many topics of the day.

She also admonishes that we should show more "love" towards those of differing opinions. I wonder if she will write a letter condemning what actor Samuel L. Jackson and actress Ellen Barkin have tweeted to their followers?

On Aug. 26 Ellen Barkin expressed her hope that Tropical Storm Isaac would smash up the Republican National Convention in Tampa and drown all its delegates. She retweeted the message of one of her followers that read: "C'mon Isaac! Wash every pro-life, anti-education, anti-woman, xenophobic, gay-bashing, racist SOB right into the ocean! RNC". Barkin did not express any disagreement in her retweet.

Enough is enough! Samuel L. Jackson has had it with these monkey-fighting hurricanes on this Monday-to-Friday Gulf Coast. The outspoken star took to his Twitter page Aug. 27 to air his disappointment about Tropical Storm Isaac's shift towards New Orleans and away from Tampa Bay, home of this week's Republican National Convention. "Unfair: GOP spared by Issac (sic)! NOLA prolly Again! Not understanding God's plan!" Jackson wrote Monday afternoon.

I read in the Aug. 28 edition that actor George Clooney has raised $15 million dollars, at his own home in May, for the Obama campaign. He is traveling to Geneva in order to obtain more money from Americans living abroad for the Obama campaign. They expect to raise about $500,000.

To those that "say" they are conservative, I would ask, "Where do you think these clown actors and actresses get their money to give to Obama?" Why in the world do you support these radicals with your hard earned money so that they can turn around and give it to the presidential campaign, of the individual that is destroying our great country? You should be ashamed of yourselves.

At work one day I asked an individual why he watched "The West Wing" when he was so opposed to the political stance of Martin Sheen? He said that he was honoring him for his body of work, and I said what a bunch of baloney!

If supposedly good people "go along, to get along", we get what we deserve.
