Every year, local volleyball fans are treated to two great regular-season matches when the Helias Lady Crusaders and Jefferson City Lady Jays play a home-and-home series.

And in some special years in the past, those fans were treated to some bonus fun when the teams sometimes met in the district tournament.

They didn't get the chance this season, but those fans will get something even better today.

When the Missouri State High School Activities Association made the odd decision to put the Lady Jays and Lady Crusaders in different districts, it seemed like a postseason meeting was out of the question.

But after both Helias and Jefferson City won district championships Tuesday night, it meant the schools would meet today in a Class 4 sectional match.

The only problem with the scenario? Because of the playoff hosting procecure, the match will take place at Ozark High School.
