On Monday at 11:23 pm, Jefferson City police received multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots fired in the area of the 700 Block of Washington and 200 Block of W. Ashley.
Officers had responded to the area earlier for a large group of subjects creating a noise disturbance, however upon their arrival the group was dispersing.
Officers' investigating the scene of the shots fired located several shell casings that lead them to believe at least two subjects exchanged gunfire behind houses in the 200 Block of W. Ashley, but could not find witnesses who could or would identify the shooters.
The investigation is continuing.
