A Russellville man died Sunday evening when his car collided with an oncoming car on a Moniteau County highway. Gregory W. Roberds, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on Missouri 87 north of Route F.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports Roberds was driving southbound at 5:15 p.m. when his car crossed the center line and struck a northbound car head-on. Roberds' car then caught on fire.
The driver of the northbound car, 61-year-old Joyce A. Zimmerman of California, Mo., was taken to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
Zimmerman was wearing a seat belt while Roberds was not, the patrol reported.
