Jefferson City continued its late-season slide Friday night.

The Jays lost for the third time in four games, this one a 28-18 decision to Rock Bridge at Adkins Stadium.

"I just felt like we played not to lose," Jefferson City coach Ted LePage said.

The Jays struck first thanks to a short field. Jefferson City drove to the Rock Bridge 22-yard line in eight plays before a 39-yard field goal by Gabe Marcantonio put Jefferson City up 3-0.

But Jefferson City's lead evaporated on the next play as Kenny James returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. It was the start of 21 unanswered points, as Freeman Simmons added a 42-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to make the score 14-3.

The Bruins made it 21-3 on a 3-yard pass from Logan Twehouse to Zach Reuter with 8:07 left in the second half.
