St. Louis area boat may be recycled

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - The Belle of the Night, a restaurant boat that operated in the 1970s and 1980s in St. Louis, may be scrapped.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/WhHW2p) that the four-deck barge was called the Belle Angeline when it was on Laclede's Landing in St. Louis in the 1970s and 1980s.

The boat's owner, Pete Tully, says he plans to sell its hull to a "recycler" if it isn't sold at auction Oct. 20. The next step would be to auction the boat's furnishings and fixtures Oct. 24. Tully bought the boat in 2007.

Items expected to be auctioned include a zinc-lined bar, chandeliers, antique metal ceilings, tables and chairs and kitchen equipment. Most of the items were installed in 2002 when the boat was refurbished.
