Campaign works to thank comrades of wounded Marine

Donations for service members being collected across city

The courageous action of a sailor and three Marines likely saved the life of Corporal Tyler Huffman, whose wounds sustained during combat operations in Afghanistan have left him paralyzed.

The local Marine's community has expressed its gratitude for his sacrifice in multiple gifts and support, including the current construction of a donated home in the 110 block of Martin Way.

This fall, the Jefferson City community has the opportunity to say thank you to the servicemen who saved Huffman.

Navy corpsman Jesse Miller and Marines David Castillo, Blake Watson and Jose Santiago have been invited to the annual Veterans Appreciation Banquet on Nov. 8 at Jefferson City High School.
