Whiteman protesters sentenced

Two anti-war protesters were sentenced Thursday after being convicted of trespassing at Whiteman Air Force Base in April.

U.S. District Judge Matt Whitworth sentenced Brian Terrell, a member of the Catholic Worker Movement from Iowa, to six months in federal prison and he sentenced Ron Faust, a retired Disciples of Christ minister from Gladson, to five months probation. A third protester, Mark Kenney of Omaha, pleaded guilty June 6 and is serving a four-month prison term in Duluth, Minn.

It was unclear on Thursday where Terrell will serve his time. At the trial in early September, Whitworth rejected the activists' view that U.S. use of unmanned military drones is illegal under international law.
