This morning, Missouri's Silver Haired Legislature will decide the top five issues delegates want the General Assembly to consider next year.
Thursday morning, Gov. Jay Nixon reminded those delegates of the importance of their work.
Nixon said "Your coming to Jefferson City demonstrates your dedication to making Missouri a better, more vibrant place in which to live, work and raise a family.
"You are addressing issues of concern not only to Missouri seniors, but to citizens of our state, and you are continuing a noble tradition of seniors' involvement in state government that began almost 40 years ago with the first Silver Haired Legislature in the nation."
The Silver Haired Legislature is an ongoing project of the state Health and Senior Services Department, through Missouri's 10 Area Agencies on Aging.
Delegates to the annual mock legislature are chosen by their peers at senior centers throughout the state, for a total of 30 senators and 120 representatives traveling to the annual fall gathering in the Capitol.
