COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Federal regulators are giving upstate New York residents some more time to comment on a proposal to build a natural gas pipeline that would link northern Pennsylvania with a larger distribution network.
The Oneonta Daily Star reports (http://bit.ly/URLxAF ) that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has extended the comment period on the Constitution Pipeline to Nov. 9. It had been set to end Tuesday, but opponents say people only learned recently about details of an alternate route and public hearing sites were too remote for some residents.
The regulators will also add another hearing Oct. 24 in Oneonta.
The 120-mile pipeline would run from Pennsylvania through Broome, Chenango, and Delaware counties to connect with the Tennessee and Iroquois pipelines in the Schoharie County town of Wright, 80 miles southwest of Albany.
