The two women seeking to succeed Brenda Umstattd as Cole County circuit clerk on Friday touted their on-the-job experiences for potential voters to consider.
And three Mid-Missourians wanting to serve in the state's House of Representatives got a chance to explain some of their positions, with some questions from the audience but no opponent attending the Eastside Business Association's candidate forum.
• The circuit clerk's race is a special election to complete the final two years of Umstattd's term, after the former clerk resigned last April following the release of a state audit report citing several problems with the office's operations.
Both Republican Dawnel Davidson and Democrat Marilue Hemmel cited their experiences working in the circuit clerk's office.
Both said they've had 18 years experience with courts-related work.
Davidson said she worked 11 years before moving to the Office of State Courts Administrator.
