WARDSVILLE - At a time of the year when most basketball coaches are saying, "We need a game," the Blair Oaks boys team is saying something similar. Only it's more like, "We need a varsity game."
That's because the Falcons fielded a senior-laden team last year, as almost all of the available minutes went to players who have now graduated.
So while it's nice to have veteran squads when you have them, it's not a lot of fun the next year.
"We graduated some guys who meant a lot to the program for four years," Blair Oaks coach Ryan Fick said. "Experience-wise, we have basically two guys that saw any measurable time. Senior Brett Voss is the guy back that scored the most points and I think he had about 99 points last year. Logan Bax, who is a junior this year, gained some experience toward the end of last year and played a pretty big role coming off the bench.
