Learning to adapt

Learning to adapt

Capt. Kati Mudd of Jefferson City stands next to the trophy she was recently awarded by 70th Troop Command for her exceptional administrative support to the 835th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.

Jefferson City resident Kati Mudd has always sought ways to grow in her career and adapt to new situations. Whether locating funds to finish her college education or climbing through the ranks, the military has provided her with the skills necessary to prevail over any challenge she's encountered.

Graduating from Monroe City High School in 1996, Mudd's first goal was to attend college.

However, after less than a year at Moberly Area Community College, she ran out of money and began to seek out ways to cover the costs of tuition.

"A friend of mine had joined the National Guard and said that it might be a good way to get some college money," Mudd said.

Initially she was interested in becoming a combat photographer, but after working temporary recruiting orders prior to her initial training, she decided to become an administrative clerk in order to qualify for a full-time job with the National Guard.
