ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) - Breanna Stewart scored 20 points while Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Morgan Tuck each had 16 to help No. 2 Connecticut rout Wake Forest 95-34 in the opening game of the Paradise Jam on Thursday night.
UConn (3-0) dominated from the start, scoring the game's first 12 points and carrying a 45-12 lead into halftime. The Huskies held the Demon Deacons to just four field goals in the first 20 minutes. It took 7 minutes for Wake Forest to hit its first basket and the Demon Deacons missed their last 15 shots from the field in the first half.
While Wake Forest couldn't make a basket, UConn was hitting almost everything. Stefanie Dolson made her first career 3-pointer in the first half and finished with 11 points. The Huskies finished the game shooting 69 percent from the field.
Wake Forest (2-2) made just 22 percent.
No. 7 LOUISVILLE 61, OREGON STATE 43
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) - Sara Hammond scored 17 points and Shoni Schimmel added 15 to help No. 7 Louisville beat Oregon State to win the Hardwood Tournament of Hope tournament.
The Cardinals (6-0) led 37-32 with 13:22 left before going on a 16-2 run over the next 5 minutes to take command of the game. Schimmel had back-to-back 3-pointers and Hammond scored four points during the spurt.
Monique Reid's layup with 8:22 left made it 53-34.
Oregon State (3-2) could get no closer than 15 the rest of the way. Ali Gibson scored 10 points to lead the Beavers.
The two teams stayed close in the first half with the Cardinals holding a 30-23 halftime advantage.
No. 14 PURDUE 71, MARIST 51
KK Houser scored 17 points and Courtney Moses added 14 to help Purdue rout Marist in the Paradise Jam.
Purdue (4-0) led 16-13 midway through the first half before going on a 23-6 run to close the period and take control of the game. Houser had five points during the burst as the Boilermakers led 39-19 at the half.
Marist (2-2) could only get within 18 points in the second half.
Emma O'Connor scored 10 points to lead the Red Foxes, who will face No. 2 UConn on Friday night. Purdue will play Wake Forest.
