With the announcement of Hostess Brands going out of business Friday, company officials also confirmed that along with their plants that make Twinkies and Wonder Bread, their outlet stores will also be shutting down.
One of those is located at 401 W. Dunklin St. in Jefferson City.
"Our retail stores will be open another seven to 10 days to sell out our remaining stock," said company spokesperson Tamara Taylor.
Taylor said the brand names that the company has still have value and those could be sold off to be made by other companies. But the hope that the whole company could be bought and brought back under new management is gone, she said.
"Just like our bakeries and plants, the stores like in your town will be sold off," she said. "The company now has to get rid of its assets."
