Council expected to act on conference center RFP

November 16th, 2012 in News

The Jefferson City Council is set to take action Monday on the draft request for proposals for a conference center.

If approved Monday, the RFP would be sent out to hoteliers and developers in December, with proposals due back to the city by Jan. 31.

In late May, the City Council directed staff to begin drafting an RFP for the conference center concept detailed by Mayor Eric Struemph during the city's town hall meetings last spring. The draft RFP outlines a partnership between the city and hotelier, or developer, to construct an exhibit or banquet hall. The city would provide funding for the construction, set at $9 million, which would come from the lodging tax contributions.
