One candidate has filed for the 1st Ward City Council seat currently held by Bob Weber. James J. Branch filed Wednesday morning for the seat, becoming the sole 1st Ward candidate so far. Weber is not seeking re-election as he is term-limited.
Branch, who works as a salesperson at Riley Chevrolet, said he was born and raised in Jefferson City and would like to give back to the community. Branch said he has never been involved in municipal government before.
