On Tuesday, Jefferson City's proposal to annex a new area into the city's 4th Ward failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to pass.
The Meadows by the Club annexation proposal received 64.96 percent in favor, falling just short of the needed 67 percent to pass.
But a closer look at the vote totals from within Jefferson City show 1,189 people who cast ballots chose not to vote on the annexation issue. Cole County Clerk Marvin Register said, for the issue to pass, at least 200 more votes were needed in the affirmative.
