St. Louis Co. police to watch polling places

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - With thousands going to polls on Tuesday in St. Louis County, the county's police chief says officers will be watching for any mischief.

St. Louis County chief Tim Fitch says the county wants to ensure that residents can perform their patriotic duty in complete safety. As a result, additional patrols will be out on Tuesday watching over polling places.

Fitch told KSDK-TV (http://on.ksdk.com/RBt6Cy ) that safety is of particular concern on Tuesday because a presidential election brings out larger turnout. But Fitch says there have not been significant crime-related problems at polls in recent years.
