JC man sentenced in molestation case

Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Richardson announced Thursday that that Gary S. Lutman, 40, Jefferson City, was sentenced to 15 years in prison following his guilty plea before Cole County Judge Jon Beetem to a charge of first-degree child molestation.

Richardson said this was for conduct occurring between December 2009 and February 2010 that involved a child under the age of 12.

Lutman will not be eligible for parole in this case because of a prior conviction for child molestation from Miller County in 1996.

He had been incarcerated in the Cole County Jail since his arrest in February 2010.

In a Jefferson City Police Department probable-cause statement, the victim said the acts occurred at Lutman 's apartment on Hutton Lane.

The victim said this was against her will because she felt Lutman would cause her physical harm.

She also said she told Lutman to stop, but he would not.

When questioned by authorities, Lutman admitted kissing the victim and inappropriately touching her.
